Learning about character strengths and intentionally—one of Dr. Stevens-Morgan’s favorite words—and applying them to my daily life has helped me become more aware of the positive qualities I already possess and how I can use them to navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and continue growing as a person. Participating in the weekly groups and having personal conversations with Dr. Stevens-Morgan has also allowed me to reflect on perspectives different from my own and recognize how strengths such as kindness, perseverance, gratitude, and compassion can influence the way we interact with others. This experience has reminded me that personal growth often begins with recognizing the strengths within us and making a conscious effort to use them each day.

Applying the character strengths to my daily life has been life changing for me. I’ve learned to be more patient, grateful, kind, and intentional in how I respond to situations. Learning about character strengths has reminded me that I already have strengths within me that can help me grow, flourish, and make a positive difference in the lives of others. I’m learning to embrace those strengths and use them with purpose.

The coaching session has really been a blessing to me. While I can’t fully address all 24 character strengths now, looking at my top five has made me want to do even more by finding different ways to improve them. Love is my number one strength. I am now searching for more ways to show love. Fairness is my number five strength. I have found out that fairness can be put into practice by listening first, depending on the situation. I like the idea of putting these top five to use every day. I know they will help me flourish. I now realize I can do more than I think. I have become more intentional on doing new things, especially new technology. I look for ways to show more kindness and gratitude each day. Now I am working on zest which has taught me to laugh more and have more energy to encourage and inspire others around me.

Living Life With Intention

“
I would highly recommend Dr. Ruby to assist with using character strengths. The character strengths help with the way you interact with people, using character strengths helps redirect a person to the positive instead of the negative. They have helped me through all walks of my life by not taking on so much to the point of stress and sickness. It helps me to focus on what I want to accomplish without feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. One main character is still teaching me to take care of myself instead of putting others first. I’ve learned and still applying learning to say “no”. It’s easy to say but hard to do at times. This includes living my life, instead of my life living me. Never give up on the tasks set forth. She is an excellent Life Coach and very good at what she does. She loves to encourage and pray with you.

I have truly benefited from learning and applying what I have learned. I am finally embracing the unique character strengths God created in me. For so long, I was my own harshest critic, but learning to lean into my gifts and character strengths has taught me to love and appreciate who I truly am. I approach every challenge with a new sense of gratitude and perspective, and I can feel my life changing for the better.

A Journey of Growth

Three Years of Meaningful Study

“

I was asked to write a testimonial about the benefits of learning about my character strengths. I have been a part of the Positivity and Prayer Group for more than three years, and each series has been an important part of my growth. However, the Character Strengths series has become one of my most important and favorite studies.

Through our weekly conversations, in-depth studies, and assessments, I have learned more about the strengths that help define who I am. I have also discovered areas where I need more understanding, knowledge, and practice so I can become more well-rounded instead of letting my emotions control my actions.

One character strength that I knew I needed to understand better was self-regulation. I realized I needed to develop the knowledge and skills to master self-regulation rather than letting my emotions and reactions master me.

Through our discussions and lessons, I have gained a better understanding of self-regulation and learned how to apply those skills in my daily interactions with others and in different environments. I have grown in my ability to make wiser choices in how I communicate, pause before reacting emotionally, and replace negative behavioral patterns with more mature and positive responses.

I am excited to continue studying the different character strengths and learning how they can help me become a better representation of who I truly am.

Thank you, Positivity and Prayer Group, for providing such an in-depth and meaningful study. This experience has truly contributed to my personal growth.
